Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL), which rose 1.63% or 112.5 points to trade at 7010.0 at the close. Meanwhile, NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 1.40% or 0.1100 points to end at 7.9450 and MVideo (MCX:MVID) was up 1.32% or 5.60 points to 428.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which fell 6.02% or 1.750 points to trade at 27.300 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) declined 3.59% or 0.0418 points to end at 1.1232 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was down 2.23% or 29.40 points to 1288.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 131 to 86 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.63% or 112.5 to 7010.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 12.82% to 22.270.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.70 to $1511.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.77% or 1.98 to hit $54.52 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.28% or 1.31 to trade at $58.69 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.57% to 65.4138, while EUR/RUB rose 0.86% to 73.3370.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 97.287.
