Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 4.14% or 3.900 points to trade at 98.000 at the close. Meanwhile, X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) added 2.31% or 40.0 points to end at 1770.0 and Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN) was up 2.23% or 16.0 points to 733.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT), which fell 3.74% or 21.5 points to trade at 553.5 at the close. Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) declined 3.47% or 137.0 points to end at 3806.0 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was down 1.93% or 0.190 points to 9.640.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 105 to 100 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.14% or 3.900 to 98.000.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.80% to 23.460.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.29% or 3.70 to $1270.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.14% or 0.09 to hit $65.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 1.03 to trade at $73.71 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.05% to 63.7183, while EUR/RUB rose 0.27% to 73.9136.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 94.55.
