Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN), which rose 16.14% or 72.6 points to trade at 522.5 at the close. Meanwhile, NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 2.22% or 0.1550 points to end at 7.1500 and X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) was up 1.88% or 33.0 points to 1793.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NK Rosneft PAO (MCX:ROSN), which fell 1.62% or 6.95 points to trade at 421.55 at the close. VTB (MCX:VTBR) declined 1.57% or 0.0006 points to end at 0.0376 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was down 1.49% or 17.00 points to 1126.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 132 to 97 and 14 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.92% to 21.620.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.24% or 3.15 to $1316.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.93% or 0.50 to hit $54.16 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.68 to trade at $62.66 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.21% to 65.7633, while EUR/RUB fell 0.07% to 74.8300.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 96.012.
