Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which rose 2.19% or 12.10 points to trade at 564.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 1.52% or 0.0120 points to end at 0.7990 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) was up 1.43% or 65.0 points to 4615.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p), which fell 2.60% or 12.20 points to trade at 457.80 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 2.18% or 3750 points to end at 168050 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was down 1.81% or 12.20 points to 660.45.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 126 to 94 and 15 ended unchanged.

The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.97% to 24.480.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.54% or 6.80 to $1262.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 3.55% or 2.42 to hit $70.50 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.25% or 1.68 to trade at $76.23 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.50% to 63.0995, while EUR/RUB rose 0.22% to 73.6100.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 94.23.
