Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 1.23% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which rose 1.48% or 5.35 points to trade at 365.65 at the close. Meanwhile, MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p) added 1.01% or 0.55 points to end at 55.00 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 0.99% or 6.10 points to 622.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which fell 6.75% or 0.2750 points to trade at 3.8000 at the close. MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) declined 6.13% or 36.00 points to end at 551.20 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was down 5.13% or 7.05 points to 130.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 145 to 67 and 12 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.59% to 26.050.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.77% or 9.74 to $1278.34 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.70% or 1.72 to hit $44.74 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.59% or 1.75 to trade at $46.97 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.35% to 57.1854, while EUR/RUB rose 0.90% to 64.3430.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 96.43.
