Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil and Gas, Telecom and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the RTSI fell 2.32%, while the MICEX index lost 1.57%.

The best performers of the session on the RTSI were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 5.56% or 0.0035 points to trade at 0.0672 at the close. Meanwhile, RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) added 5.28% or 23.40 points to end at 466.70 and Tatneft (pref) (MCX:TATN_p) was up 4.19% or 6.20 points to 154.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which fell 9.49% or 1070.0 points to trade at 10200.0 at the close. MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) declined 5.14% or 52.00 points to end at 959.00 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) was down 4.09% or 1.240 points to 29.100.

The top performers on the MICEX were VTB (MCX:VTBR) which rose 5.56% to 0.0672, RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) which was up 5.28% to settle at 466.70 and Tatneft (pref) (MCX:TATN_p) which gained 4.19% to close at 154.20.

The worst performers were Magnit (MCX:MGNT) which was down 9.49% to 10200.0 in late trade, MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) which lost 5.14% to settle at 959.00 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) which was down 4.09% to 29.100 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 77 to 67 and 9 ended unchanged.

Shares in RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.28% or 23.40 to 466.70. Shares in Tatneft (pref) (MCX:TATN_p) rose to all time highs; rising 4.19% or 6.20 to 154.20. Gold for April delivery was down 0.39% or 5.10 to $1287.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 2.18% or 1.01 to hit $45.22 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 0.66% or 0.33 to trade at $49.27 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.07% to 67.921, while EUR/RUB fell 0.08% to 76.908.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 94.53.
