Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil and Gas, Telecom and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the RTSI fell 1.34%, while the MICEX index lost 0.34%.

The best performers of the session on the RTSI were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 7.32% or 0.0521 points to trade at 0.7641 at the close. Meanwhile, Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) added 4.73% or 450.0 points to end at 9970.0 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was up 4.30% or 1.500 points to 36.400 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which fell 3.69% or 43.00 points to trade at 1122.00 at the close. VTB (MCX:VTBR) declined 2.98% or 0.0019 points to end at 0.0621 and Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT) was down 2.54% or 1.80 points to 69.00.

The top performers on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) which rose 7.32% to 0.7641, Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) which was up 4.73% to settle at 9970.0 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) which gained 4.30% to close at 36.400.

The worst performers were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) which was down 3.69% to 1122.00 in late trade, VTB (MCX:VTBR) which lost 2.98% to settle at 0.0621 and Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT) which was down 2.54% to 69.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 81 to 58 and 4 ended unchanged.

Shares in Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) rose to all time highs; rising 7.32% or 0.0521 to 0.7641. Shares in Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) rose to all time highs; up 4.73% or 450.0 to 9970.0. Gold for February delivery was up 1.47% or 18.80 to $1295.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 3.60% or 1.77 to hit $47.36 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.24 to trade at $48.59 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.45% to 65.320, while EUR/RUB rose 0.42% to 75.763.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 93.16.
