Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which rose 5.05% or 1.880 points to trade at 39.080 at the close. Meanwhile, PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) added 4.00% or 80.0 points to end at 2081.0 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 3.64% or 10.20 points to 290.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Akron (MCX:AKRN), which fell 3.25% or 72.0 points to trade at 2144.0 at the close. RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) declined 3.10% or 0.0182 points to end at 0.5691 and Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) was down 2.33% or 210.0 points to 8800.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 121 to 81 and 9 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 7.50% to 39.140.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.11% or 1.30 to $1191.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.38% or 0.83 to hit $59.47 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 1.18 to trade at $64.39 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 2.13% to 53.479, while EUR/RUB rose 1.63% to 58.443.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 97.56.
