Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 2.07% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 6.05% or 8.50 points to trade at 148.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 5.16% or 0.1750 points to end at 3.5680 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) was up 3.63% or 12 points to 356 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT), which fell 1.42% or 8.6 points to trade at 595.0 at the close. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 1.00% or 1.55 points to end at 154.20 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) was down 0.88% or 5 points to 565.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 134 to 68 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 0.88% or 5 to 565.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.89% to 18.210.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.15% or 2.00 to $1320.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.73% or 0.45 to hit $62.08 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.17 to trade at $68.01 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.61% to 56.9046, while EUR/RUB fell 0.36% to 68.6525.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 91.67.
