Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 5.64% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.0382 at the close. Meanwhile, NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 3.33% or 0.2100 points to end at 6.5250 and MTS (MCX:MTSS) was up 2.63% or 6.95 points to 270.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which fell 1.97% or 12.00 points to trade at 596.50 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 1.76% or 1.80 points to end at 100.60 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was down 1.32% or 0.510 points to 37.990.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 120 to 85 and 22 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 2.86% to 27.670.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.38% or 4.70 to $1228.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.17% or 0.73 to hit $61.48 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.39 to trade at $71.74 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 66.1374, while EUR/RUB rose 0.49% to 75.8700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 95.74.
