Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 1.23%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN), which rose 5.69% or 37.0 points to trade at 687.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) added 4.42% or 2.92 points to end at 69.00 and Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) was up 3.68% or 140.0 points to 3940.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN), which fell 4.34% or 32.0 points to trade at 705.0 at the close. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) declined 3.28% or 0.2200 points to end at 6.4850 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was down 2.62% or 2.90 points to 107.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 122 to 85 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in NMTP (MCX:NMTP) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.28% or 0.2200 to 6.4850.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.43% to 23.390.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.14% or 1.80 to $1297.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.20% or 0.79 to hit $65.02 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.32% or 1.01 to trade at $75.78 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.24% to 62.0502, while EUR/RUB fell 0.10% to 72.5019.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 94.07.
