Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 1.02%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 3.37% or 3.30 points to trade at 101.35 at the close. Meanwhile, NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) added 3.11% or 26.50 points to end at 879.30 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was up 3.06% or 0.270 points to 9.080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unipro (MCX:UPRO), which fell 3.51% or 0.1020 points to trade at 2.8050 at the close. X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) declined 2.32% or 40.0 points to end at 1687.0 and Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN) was down 1.53% or 11.0 points to 707.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 117 to 88 and 24 ended unchanged.
Shares in NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.11% or 26.50 to 879.30.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 4.80% to 23.820.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.83% or 10.40 to $1244.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $74.11 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.68% or 1.33 to trade at $77.90 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.09% to 63.4185, while EUR/RUB rose 0.35% to 73.6000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 94.79.
