Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP), which rose 4.32% or 5.38 points to trade at 129.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 4.13% or 58.40 points to end at 1,471.80 and TKS Holding MKPAO (MCX:TCSG) was up 4.09% or 107.50 points to 2,735.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which fell 17.87% or 10.73 points to trade at 49.30 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 7.90% or 114.00 points to end at 1,324.00 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) was down 3.12% or 46.60 points to 1,448.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 193 to 52 and 8 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 14.50% to 25.88.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.49% or 12.00 to $2,447.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.75% or 0.61 to hit $80.83 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $84.75 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.02% to 88.37, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 96.32.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 103.92.
