Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.81%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 3.42% or 3.60 points to trade at 108.88 at the close. Meanwhile, MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) added 2.61% or 384.0 points to end at 15084.0 and NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN) was up 2.40% or 9.3 points to 397.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which fell 5.20% or 23.20 points to trade at 423.30 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 2.16% or 1.670 points to end at 75.500 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was down 1.08% or 4.20 points to 384.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 118 to 96 and 19 ended unchanged.
Shares in MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) rose to all time highs; rising 2.61% or 384.0 to 15084.0. Shares in ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.16% or 1.670 to 75.500.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 3.17% to 20.450.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.83% or 12.55 to $1507.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.72% or 1.39 to hit $52.48 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.28% or 1.28 to trade at $57.51 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.33% to 65.1089, while EUR/RUB fell 0.32% to 72.9465.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 97.360.
