Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.76% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 4.91% or 0.0098 points to trade at 0.2098 at the close. Meanwhile, NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) added 2.70% or 34.40 points to end at 1309.80 and NK Rosneft PAO (MCX:ROSN) was up 2.57% or 10.50 points to 419.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN), which fell 4.33% or 644.0 points to trade at 14224.0 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 2.84% or 1.320 points to end at 45.080 and Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) was down 1.40% or 0.88 points to 61.82.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 135 to 95 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in FSK EES (MCX:FEES) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.91% or 0.0098 to 0.2098.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 6.41% to 20.740.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 3.21% or 43.25 to $1392.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 5.39% or 2.91 to hit $56.88 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.88% or 2.40 to trade at $64.22 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.33% to 62.9273, while EUR/RUB fell 0.75% to 71.0428.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 96.167.
