Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.70% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which rose 3.88% or 28.20 points to trade at 754.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP) added 2.88% or 5.96 points to end at 213.10 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was up 2.72% or 15.70 points to 593.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which fell 3.17% or 0.1300 points to trade at 3.9695 at the close. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 1.71% or 1.08 points to end at 62.10 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was down 0.77% or 0.70 points to 90.42.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 109 to 107 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.88% or 5.96 to 213.10. Shares in SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.71% or 1.08 to 62.10.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.05% to 20.550.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.42% or 5.40 to $1286.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.84% or 1.08 to hit $57.73 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.48% or 1.68 to trade at $66.19 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.16% to 65.0704, while EUR/RUB rose 0.18% to 72.4475.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 98.047.
