Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 0.54% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN), which rose 2.86% or 379.0 points to trade at 13639.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 2.36% or 2.50 points to end at 108.60 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was up 2.02% or 19.30 points to 976.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which fell 3.34% or 0.975 points to trade at 28.220 at the close. NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT) declined 2.90% or 17.4 points to end at 581.6 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was down 2.07% or 0.925 points to 43.745.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 114 to 95 and 24 ended unchanged.
Shares in MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) rose to all time highs; up 2.86% or 379.0 to 13639.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.72% to 23.830.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.11% or 1.45 to $1310.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.53% or 1.35 to hit $54.66 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.85% or 1.13 to trade at $62.33 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.20% to 65.9268, while EUR/RUB fell 0.24% to 75.3125.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 95.565.
