Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which rose 2.00% or 25.80 points to trade at 1317.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) added 1.87% or 1.49 points to end at 81.33 and X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) was up 1.61% or 29.5 points to 1857.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which fell 3.87% or 0.0483 points to trade at 1.1988 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 1.59% or 2550 points to end at 157850 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was down 1.35% or 0.0024 points to 0.1751.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 118 to 111 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) rose to all time highs; up 2.00% or 25.80 to 1317.20.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.59% to 20.310.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.06% or 0.80 to $1284.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.06% or 0.62 to hit $59.25 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.97% or 1.33 to trade at $68.80 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.15% to 64.3850, while EUR/RUB fell 0.27% to 72.0600.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.625.
