Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN), which rose 2.86% or 13.6 points to trade at 488.6 at the close. Meanwhile, Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) added 2.12% or 17.70 points to end at 853.10 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 1.65% or 2550 points to 157500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which fell 2.96% or 0.0332 points to trade at 1.0900 at the close. Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) declined 1.76% or 0.98 points to end at 54.76 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) was down 1.47% or 0.400 points to 26.900.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 109 to 102 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.12% or 17.70 to 853.10.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 43.09% to 13.340 a new all time low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.57% or 8.55 to $1517.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.51% or 0.28 to hit $54.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $58.57 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.27% to 65.4559, while EUR/RUB rose 0.38% to 73.3902.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 97.252.
