Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.24% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 4.54% or 0.1935 points to trade at 4.4585 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 2.70% or 2.58 points to end at 98.18 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was up 2.60% or 372.0 points to 14676.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which fell 3.46% or 131.0 points to trade at 3650.0 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 2.71% or 2.410 points to end at 86.500 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was down 2.34% or 3850 points to 160350.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 130 to 100 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.54% or 0.1935 to 4.4585. Shares in ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.71% or 2.410 to 86.500.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 2.47% to 21.560.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.49% or 6.55 to $1343.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.13% or 1.09 to hit $52.23 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.92% or 1.15 to trade at $61.12 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.07% to 64.5125, while EUR/RUB fell 0.56% to 72.7295.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.032.
