Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Rostelekom PAO (MCX:RTKM), which rose 3.65% or 3.06 points to trade at 86.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Polyus PAO (MCX:PLZL) added 2.09% or 262.00 points to end at 12,801.50 and Surgutneftegaz PAO (MCX:SNGS) was up 1.99% or 0.55 points to 27.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which fell 4.06% or 2.54 points to trade at 60.00 at the close. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) declined 2.87% or 0.63 points to end at 21.29 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was down 2.39% or 34.60 points to 1,413.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 130 to 116 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 3.19% to 32.74.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.19% or 4.80 to $2,463.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.41% or 1.92 to hit $81.63 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $85.15 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.11% to 88.50, while EUR/RUB fell 0.12% to 96.81.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 103.43.
