Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which rose 1.79% or 12.00 points to trade at 684.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Surgutneftegaz PAO (MCX:SNGS) added 1.75% or 0.430 points to end at 24.985 and Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) was up 1.73% or 1.29 points to 75.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN), which fell 3.61% or 18.0 points to trade at 480.0 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 3.19% or 5.58 points to end at 169.50 and Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) was down 1.77% or 98.0 points to 5453.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 137 to 86 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.73% or 1.29 to 75.80.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.82% to 18.060 a new 6-months low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.81% or 10.35 to $1282.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.66% or 0.41 to hit $62.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.68% or 0.48 to trade at $71.23 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.54% to 65.0848, while EUR/RUB fell 0.36% to 72.8593.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 97.282.
