Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 2.10% or 3.50 points to trade at 170.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) added 2.08% or 0.865 points to end at 42.400 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was up 1.99% or 0.190 points to 9.740 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which fell 1.91% or 74.0 points to trade at 3791.0 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 1.87% or 1.660 points to end at 87.340 and Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) was down 1.02% or 60.0 points to 5836.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 120 to 101 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.08% or 0.865 to 42.400.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 3.81% to 20.690 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.33% or 4.65 to $1410.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.19% or 0.11 to hit $59.49 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $65.70 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.05% to 63.0900, while EUR/RUB fell 0.01% to 71.7000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.757.
