Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL), which rose 2.24% or 119.5 points to trade at 5444.5 at the close. Meanwhile, NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 2.19% or 3.58 points to end at 166.90 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was up 2.05% or 1.930 points to 96.040 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN), which fell 3.69% or 530.0 points to trade at 13850.0 at the close. X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) declined 3.03% or 51.5 points to end at 1646.5 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) was down 2.19% or 18 points to 783.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 117 to 107 and 17 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.18% to 21.760 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.76% or 9.90 to $1308.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.67% or 0.95 to hit $57.82 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.49 to trade at $67.16 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.16% to 65.5211, while EUR/RUB fell 0.03% to 74.0696.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.708.
