Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 2.76% or 0.245 points to trade at 9.120 at the close. Meanwhile, Unipro (MCX:UPRO) added 2.74% or 0.0760 points to end at 2.8460 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was up 2.17% or 2.230 points to 105.190 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Detskiy Mir PAO (MCX:DSKY), which fell 2.20% or 2.05 points to trade at 90.95 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.13% or 3.05 points to end at 140.00 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) was down 1.66% or 1.79 points to 106.11.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 105 to 95 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.17% or 2.230 to 105.190.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 8.36% to 20.390.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.70 to $1259.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $74.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.26 to trade at $78.02 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.25% to 63.2850, while EUR/RUB rose 0.25% to 73.7939.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 94.23.
