Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 2.67% or 0.310 points to trade at 11.900 at the close. Meanwhile, VTB (MCX:VTBR) added 1.85% or 0.0008 points to end at 0.0439 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) was up 1.78% or 0.0815 points to 4.6520 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which fell 3.76% or 30.10 points to trade at 769.60 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 2.29% or 3950 points to end at 168350 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was down 1.59% or 1.370 points to 84.630.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 115 to 109 and 19 ended unchanged.
Shares in AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.67% or 0.310 to 11.900.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.25% to 19.970.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.97% or 13.65 to $1414.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 3.63% or 2.10 to hit $59.93 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 3.69% or 2.37 to trade at $66.53 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.16% to 63.1617, while EUR/RUB fell 0.68% to 71.1150.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 96.683.
