Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.66% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were NMTP (MCX:NMTP), which rose 6.66% or 0.4650 points to trade at 7.4450 at the close. Meanwhile, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 4.77% or 0.535 points to end at 11.750 and MTS (MCX:MTSS) was up 4.77% or 12.30 points to 270.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which fell 5.41% or 38.60 points to trade at 674.40 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 3.13% or 6.20 points to end at 191.80 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) was down 2.93% or 39.0 points to 1293.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 125 to 90 and 22 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.41% to 20.080.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.71% or 9.27 to $1323.37 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.61% or 1.20 to hit $47.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.61% or 1.83 to trade at $52.56 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.90% to 58.0398, while EUR/RUB fell 0.92% to 68.9604.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 92.81.
