Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.54% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR), which rose 2.40% or 0.0200 points to trade at 0.8520 at the close. Meanwhile, NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) added 1.74% or 11.60 points to end at 680.00 and Gazprom PAO (MCX:GAZP) was up 1.43% or 1.74 points to 123.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR), which fell 1.70% or 6 points to trade at 347 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 1.63% or 1.330 points to end at 80.300 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was down 1.41% or 2.60 points to 181.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 115 to 110 and 13 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 4.25% to 17.410.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.72 to $1276.08 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.86% or 0.93 to hit $50.91 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.24% or 1.25 to trade at $57.05 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.33% to 57.4953, while EUR/RUB fell 0.83% to 67.3098.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 93.72.
