Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p), which rose 2.15% or 1.90 points to trade at 90.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) added 2.11% or 17.5 points to end at 846.0 and Sberbank (MCX:SBER) was up 1.89% or 2.44 points to 131.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p), which fell 6.21% or 4.50 points to trade at 68.00 at the close. Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) declined 3.83% or 3.52 points to end at 88.49 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was down 3.67% or 6.50 points to 170.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 117 to 92 and 21 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.76% to 33.440.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.54% or 7.45 to $1359.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.06% or 1.45 to hit $45.98 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.09% or 1.51 to trade at $47.29 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.29% to 64.3868, while EUR/RUB fell 0.28% to 71.252.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.28.
