Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecom, Oil and Gas and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 1.29%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which rose 7.30% or 2.900 points to trade at 42.600 at the close. Meanwhile, Bashneft ANK ap (pref) (MCX:BANE_p) added 7.21% or 93.0 points to end at 1383.0 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was up 6.52% or 117.0 points to 1912.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which fell 11.88% or 9.51 points to trade at 70.54 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) declined 7.88% or 0.0718 points to end at 0.8399 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was down 6.94% or 0.0050 points to 0.0673.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 97 to 94 and 8 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of options, was up 4.57% to 43.240.
Gold for April delivery was up 1.51% or 17.70 to $1186.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in May rose 3.60% or 1.64 to hit $47.17 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract rose 1.39% or 0.76 to trade at $55.19 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.63% to 59.110, while EUR/RUB fell 0.11% to 64.065.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.52% at 97.94.
