Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecom, Oil and Gas and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the RTSI rose 2.60%, while the MICEX index added 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the RTSI were Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO), which rose 9.33% or 820.0 points to trade at 9610.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) added 5.80% or 32.50 points to end at 593.00 and Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) was up 4.96% or 10.40 points to 219.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE), which fell 4.45% or 31.0 points to trade at 666.0 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 4.32% or 3.100 points to end at 68.600 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was down 3.23% or 310.0 points to 9290.0.
The top performers on the MICEX were Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) which rose 9.33% to 9610.0, Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) which was up 5.80% to settle at 593.00 and Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) which gained 4.96% to close at 219.90.

Gold for February delivery was up 2.24% or 27.60 to $1262.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in February fell 1.18% or 0.57 to hit $47.91 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $49.83 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.71% to 65.375, while EUR/RUB fell 0.47% to 75.516.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.58% at 92.84.
