Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Consumer Goods & Services and Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 2.92%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM), which rose 9.43% or 4.270 points to trade at 49.560 at the close. Meanwhile, Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) added 7.95% or 1.030 points to end at 13.980 and Becle SA (MX:CUERVO) was up 7.28% or 1.650 points to 24.320 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO), which fell 1.38% or 0.79 points to trade at 56.60 at the close. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX:RA) declined 1.19% or 1.05 points to end at 87.25 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) was down 0.77% or 0.670 points to 85.860.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 215 to 82 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 0.77% or 0.670 to 85.860.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.64% or 7.80 to $1227.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.37% or 1.22 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.22% or 1.34 to trade at $59.06 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.02% to 20.2715, while EUR/MXN fell 0.38% to 23.0443.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 96.743.
