Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Consumer Staples and Consumer Goods & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 2.63% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO), which rose 5.64% or 6.580 points to trade at 123.330 at the close. Meanwhile, VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) added 5.21% or 0.53 points to end at 10.71 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) was up 5.10% or 3.370 points to 69.420 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO), which fell 2.46% or 1.87 points to trade at 74.19 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) declined 0.02% or 0.07 points to end at 346.46 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) was up 0.63% or 0.650 points to 104.170.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 181 to 155 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.35% or 4.40 to $1257.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.43% or 1.06 to hit $73.08 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.55 to trade at $77.69 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.21% to 19.2163, while EUR/MXN fell 0.86% to 22.4665.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 94.15.
