Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Consumer Goods & Services and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX), which rose 3.42% or 1.800 points to trade at 54.470 at the close. Meanwhile, Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) added 3.09% or 0.580 points to end at 19.320 and El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1) was up 2.63% or 3.58 points to 139.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA), which fell 2.95% or 0.46 points to trade at 15.14 at the close. Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB de CV Class B (MX:BSMXB) declined 2.24% or 0.650 points to end at 28.430 and GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT) was down 1.49% or 0.460 points to 30.340.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 169 to 158 and 17 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.35% or 4.20 to $1206.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.39% or 1.68 to hit $68.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.83% or 1.46 to trade at $78.28 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.06% to 18.8162, while EUR/MXN fell 0.52% to 21.9977.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 94.54.
