Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher while losses in the Financials, Technology and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.92%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which rose 2.62% or 1.32 points to trade at 51.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) added 1.35% or 0.49 points to end at 36.72 and BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) was up 1.09% or 0.73 points to 67.79 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which fell 1.80% or 3.00 points to trade at 164.00 at the close. Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) declined 1.78% or 3.80 points to end at 210.10 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was down 1.78% or 1.02 points to 56.18.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Viridian SA (EPA:VIRI) which rose 5.21% to 0.62, Nexity (EPA:NEXI) which was up 3.19% to settle at 12.29 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) which gained 2.62% to close at 51.70.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 3.18% to 12.49 in late trade, ALD SA (EPA:ALDA) which lost 3.07% to settle at 7.26 and Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 2.89% to 3.56 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 273 to 221 and 110 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.12% or 26.05 to $2,360.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.59% or 2.01 to hit $79.73 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.18% or 0.98 to trade at $83.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 104.36.
