Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.23%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI), which rose 3.47% or 0.48 points to trade at 14.39 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) added 1.30% or 0.34 points to end at 26.56 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was up 0.73% or 0.73 points to 100.06 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA), which fell 3.24% or 0.46 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) declined 2.19% or 0.82 points to end at 36.90 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) was down 1.93% or 1.89 points to 96.19.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which rose 3.47% to 14.39, Mercialys SA (EPA:MERY) which was up 3.18% to settle at 9.42 and Valneva (EPA:VLS) which gained 2.85% to close at 11.17.
The worst performers were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 6.82% to 23.78 in late trade, Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (EPA:PLOF) which lost 4.32% to settle at 17.29 and Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was down 3.31% to 19.89 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 280 to 268 and 89 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.97% or 18.20 to $1,853.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.72% or 2.01 to hit $118.88 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 2.06 to trade at $119.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 102.10.
