Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Electronic Equipment and Technology Hardware & Equipment Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.09%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.09%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which rose 0.77% or 0.40 points to trade at 52.68 at the close. Meanwhile, EDF (PARIS:EDF) added 0.52% or 0.12 points to end at 24.00 and Solvay (BRU:SOLB) was up 0.47% or 0.55 points to 117.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vinci SA (PARIS:SGEF), which fell 3.53% or 1.75 points to trade at 47.77 at the close. Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP) declined 2.69% or 6.78 points to end at 245.18 and Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD) was down 2.61% or 1.23 points to 45.67.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which rose 8.07% to 5.55, Bourbon (PARIS:GPBN) which was up 2.41% to settle at 18.95 and Rubis (PARIS:RUBF) which gained 1.49% to close at 51.65.
The worst performers were Eiffage (PARIS:FOUG) which was down 6.34% to 44.60 in late trade, Nexans (PARIS:NEXS) which lost 3.83% to settle at 28.11 and Vinci SA (PARIS:SGEF) which was down 3.53% to 47.77 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 608 to 279 and 68 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.67% to 21.55.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.89% or 11.40 to $1291.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 2.37% or 1.07 to hit $46.22 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 2.27% or 1.09 to trade at $49.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.06% to 1.1356, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.7474.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.94% at 94.38.
