Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Personal Goods, Consumer Goods and Technology Hardware & Equipment Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.39%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH), which rose 8.13% or 11.75 points to trade at 156.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) added 2.46% or 0.076 points to end at 3.169 and Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP) was up 2.37% or 2.50 points to 108.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which fell 2.87% or 1.59 points to trade at 53.82 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 2.38% or 0.21 points to end at 8.69 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) was down 1.50% or 0.165 points to 10.830.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) which rose 8.13% to 156.25, Ingenico (PARIS:INGC) which was up 3.75% to settle at 94.43 and STMicroelectronics (PARIS:STM) which gained 3.15% to close at 7.660.
The worst performers were SCOR SE (PARIS:SCOR) which was down 4.31% to 26.98 in late trade, Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which lost 3.57% to settle at 21.35 and Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 3.12% to 57.380 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 465 to 427 and 51 ended unchanged.
Shares in SCOR SE (PARIS:SCOR) fell to 5-year highs; down 4.31% or 1.22 to 26.98.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.80% to 20.97.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.25% or 3.10 to $1263.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 5.96% or 3.16 to hit $49.89 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 3.88% or 2.25 to trade at $55.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1411, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.7505.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 94.24.
