Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Beverages, Technology Hardware & Equipment Financial and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.93% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.89%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran (PARIS:SAF), which rose 4.85% or 2.75 points to trade at 59.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP) added 4.35% or 4.45 points to end at 106.70 and Accor (PARIS:ACCP) was up 4.25% or 1.78 points to 43.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which fell 5.03% or 0.44 points to trade at 8.31 at the close. Gemalto (AMS:GTO) declined 1.62% or 1.02 points to end at 62.09 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) was down 1.57% or 0.180 points to 11.250.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Fonciere des Regions (PARIS:FDR) which rose 6.52% to 89.20, Nexity (PARIS:NEXI) which was up 5.86% to settle at 35.31 and Edenred (PARIS:EDEN) which gained 5.40% to close at 26.18.
The worst performers were Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which was down 5.41% to 7.03 in late trade, Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) which lost 5.03% to settle at 8.31 and Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which was down 4.21% to 0.910 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 603 to 298 and 62 ended unchanged.
Shares in Safran (PARIS:SAF) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.85% or 2.75 to 59.44. Shares in Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP) rose to all time highs; up 4.35% or 4.45 to 106.70. Shares in Accor (PARIS:ACCP) rose to 3-year highs; rising 4.25% or 1.78 to 43.70. Shares in Fonciere des Regions (PARIS:FDR) rose to 5-year highs; up 6.52% or 5.46 to 89.20. Shares in Nexity (PARIS:NEXI) rose to 3-year highs; gaining 5.86% or 1.96 to 35.31. Shares in Edenred (PARIS:EDEN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.40% or 1.34 to 26.18.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.28% to 21.51.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.88% or 11.40 to $1289.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 0.93% or 0.43 to hit $45.88 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.43 to trade at $48.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.92% to 1.1258, while EUR/GBP fell 0.94% to 0.7499.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 94.99.
