Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, General Retailers and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.87% to hit a new 3-month high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which rose 5.39% or 2.54 points to trade at 49.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom (PARIS:ALSO) added 3.98% or 1.09 points to end at 28.50 and Kering (PARIS:PRTP) was up 3.32% or 5.55 points to 172.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP), which fell 1.47% or 3.50 points to trade at 234.85 at the close. Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) declined 0.87% or 0.025 points to end at 2.849 and GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) was down 0.58% or 0.11 points to 18.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technip (PARIS:TECF) which rose 5.39% to 49.70, Fonciere des Regions (PARIS:FDR) which was up 4.60% to settle at 83.95 and Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which gained 4.10% to close at 20.57.
The worst performers were AB Science (PARIS:ABS) which was down 2.27% to 13.800 in late trade, Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which lost 2.02% to settle at 0.970 and Groupe Eurotunnel (PARIS:GETP) which was down 1.99% to 11.300 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 481 to 417 and 48 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kering (PARIS:PRTP) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.32% or 5.55 to 172.75. Shares in Fonciere des Regions (PARIS:FDR) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.60% or 3.69 to 83.95.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.00% to 23.64.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.08% or 1.10 to $1293.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 2.39% or 1.11 to hit $47.58 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 1.57% or 0.76 to trade at $48.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1574, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.7669.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 93.28.
