Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Banks and Electronic Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.35% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN), which rose 2.21% or 0.76 points to trade at 34.87 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran (PARIS:SAF) added 1.76% or 0.97 points to end at 56.17 and Saint Gobain (PARIS:SGOB) was up 1.62% or 0.54 points to 33.98 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which fell 1.39% or 0.68 points to trade at 47.73 at the close. Gemalto (AMS:GTO) declined 1.30% or 0.85 points to end at 65.09 and Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) was down 1.01% or 0.08 points to 8.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technicolor (PARIS:TCH) which rose 6.49% to 5.089, Edenred (PARIS:EDEN) which was up 3.60% to settle at 24.05 and Nexans (PARIS:NEXS) which gained 3.04% to close at 27.15.
The worst performers were Altran Technologies (PARIS:ALTT) which was down 11.17% to 7.155 in late trade, Ipsos (PARIS:ISOS) which lost 2.87% to settle at 21.00 and Saft (PARIS:S1A) which was down 2.42% to 27.88 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 500 to 387 and 49 ended unchanged.
Shares in Safran (PARIS:SAF) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.76% or 0.97 to 56.17.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.94% to 26.46.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1276.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 2.34% or 1.15 to hit $47.98 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 2.56% or 1.28 to trade at $48.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.1622, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.7680.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 92.77.
