Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which rose 4.02% or 1.540 points to trade at 39.860 at the close. Meanwhile, MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 1.74% or 0.630 points to end at 36.770 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 1.38% or 2.85 points to 209.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which fell 2.63% or 0.775 points to trade at 28.660 at the close. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) declined 2.18% or 194.0 points to end at 8725.0 and NMTP (MCX:NMTP) was down 1.88% or 0.1350 points to 7.0550.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 104 to 100 and 18 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.87% to 19.090.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.18% or 2.32 to $1277.38 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.80% or 0.38 to hit $47.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.21 to trade at $50.59 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.32% to 59.5150, while EUR/RUB fell 0.68% to 69.6000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.99.
