The NASDAQ Composite, on intraday trading, was up slightly to 5,553.02, an increase of 0.38%. Nasdaq closed at 5551.82 today.
The S&P 500 also showed gains, increasing to 2271.77, up by 0.13%.
Gold prices were also up slightly during intraday trading, at $1186.70, an increase of 0.14%. Gold settled at $1187.80 on Tuesday.
The dollar settled lower against the yen, euro, and the pound today.
Ten-year U.S. Treasury notes closed Tuesday 0.004% higher. Sales were mixed for t-bills after the sale of three-year notes today.
The German bund closed lower.
Asian markets are up on early trading today in anticipation of U.S. President-elect Trump's press conference on Wednesday.
U.S. markets today were awaiting news from the Bank of England later this week, and for the U.S. fourth-quarter earnings season to begin on Friday.
The first earnings will come from three banking giants, J.P. Morgan & Co., Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC). and Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) & Co., according to company executives who have briefed Wall Street analysts.
That marks a break with a long-standing Wall Street tradition.
Aluminum maker Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA). has for decades started the earnings season for years but will no longer do that, as it has split into two companies to separate its raw aluminum operations from its aerospace and automotive supply operations.
On Thursday, investors anticipate the Bank of England's latest monetary policy decision, as well as the minutes of its previous meeting.
