Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Hotels and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aurotek Corp (TW:6215), which rose 10.00% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) added 9.99% or 3.90 points to end at 42.95 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) was up 9.96% or 2.70 points to 29.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were G.M.I Technology Inc (TW:3312), which fell 9.98% or 0.65 points to trade at 5.86 at the close. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 9.89% or 2.65 points to end at 24.15 and Favite Inc (TW:3535) was down 7.85% or 0.95 points to 11.15.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 584 to 197 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in G.M.I Technology Inc (TW:3312) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.98% or 0.65 to 5.86. Shares in Favite Inc (TW:3535) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.85% or 0.95 to 11.15.
Crude oil for September delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $47.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $50.78 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.72% or 9.29 to trade at $1281.11 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 30.285, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2196.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 93.56.
