Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.41% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492), which rose 9.97% or 32.50 points to trade at 358.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Shiny Chemical Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1773) added 9.91% or 8.90 points to end at 98.70 and Shin Shin Natural Gas Co Ltd (TW:9918) was up 9.91% or 3.30 points to 36.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Global View Co Ltd (TW:3040), which fell 9.82% or 4.80 points to trade at 44.10 at the close. Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) declined 8.83% or 0.87 points to end at 8.98 and Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) was down 8.52% or 1.15 points to 12.35.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 574 to 272 and 74 ended unchanged.
Shares in Shiny Chemical Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1773) rose to all time highs; rising 9.91% or 8.90 to 98.70. Shares in Shin Shin Natural Gas Co Ltd (TW:9918) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 9.91% or 3.30 to 36.60. Shares in Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.52% or 1.15 to 12.35.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.50% or 0.34 to $68.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.28% or 0.21 to hit $74.76 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.40 to trade at $1265.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 30.391, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2165.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.01.
