Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Biotech & Medical Care and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Fulgent Sun (TW:9802), which rose 10.00% or 5.30 points to trade at 58.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Giantplus (TW:8105) added 9.86% or 1.80 points to end at 20.05 and Ta-I Tech (TW:2478) was up 9.84% or 1.55 points to 17.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Htc Corp (TW:2498), which fell 9.78% or 11.00 points to trade at 101.50 at the close. Microelectroni (TW:2314) declined 7.69% or 0.85 points to end at 10.20 and Space Shuttle (TW:2440) was down 6.56% or 0.59 points to 8.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 477 to 268 and 107 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.39% or 0.16 to $41.68 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.48% or 0.20 to hit $41.74 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.28% or 3.50 to trade at $1247.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.46% to 32.390, while TWD/CNY rose 0.20% to 0.2001.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 95.28.
