Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Biotech & Medical Care sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 9.55% or 0.19 points to trade at 2.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Lcy Chemical (TW:1704) added 6.72% or 2.40 points to end at 38.10 and Prime Eltrs (TW:6152) was up 5.86% or 0.65 points to 11.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which fell 9.36% or 0.45 points to trade at 4.36 at the close. Phihong (TW:2457) declined 7.08% or 0.80 points to end at 10.50 and Genius (TW:3406) was down 6.88% or 3.70 points to 50.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 470 to 262 and 118 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lcy Chemical (TW:1704) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.72% or 2.40 to 38.10.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.32% or 0.58 to $44.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.49% or 0.68 to hit $46.26 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.35% or 4.35 to trade at $1247.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 32.377, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2013.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 94.45.
