Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Financials and Semiconductor sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.21% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Candmark (TW:5259), which rose 10.00% or 0.16 points to trade at 1.76 at the close. Meanwhile, G.M.I (TW:3312) added 9.94% or 0.62 points to end at 6.86 and Waffer Tech (TW:6235) was up 9.89% or 1.30 points to 14.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which fell 8.76% or 0.190 points to trade at 1.980 at the close. China Electric (TW:1611) declined 5.66% or 0.45 points to end at 7.50 and Jui Li (TW:1512) was down 4.79% or 0.23 points to 4.57.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 573 to 200 and 80 ended unchanged.
Shares in Waffer Tech (TW:6235) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 9.89% or 1.30 to 14.45.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.21% or 0.10 to $47.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.49% or 0.24 to hit $49.28 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.63% or 8.35 to trade at $1330.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 32.456, while TWD/CNY fell 0.24% to 0.2046.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 96.10.
