Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.16% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Falcon Power Co Ltd (TW:1516), which rose 9.94% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) added 9.91% or 6.80 points to end at 75.40 and Makalot Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1477) was up 7.94% or 12.50 points to 170.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pharmally International Holding Co Ltd (TW:6452), which fell 9.99% or 43.50 points to trade at 392.00 at the close. Merida Industry Co Ltd (TW:9914) declined 9.60% or 12.00 points to end at 113.00 and Ta Chen Stainless Pipe Co Ltd (TW:2027) was down 7.76% or 3.95 points to 46.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 503 to 285 and 112 ended unchanged.
Shares in Merida Industry Co Ltd (TW:9914) fell to 5-year lows; down 9.60% or 12.00 to 113.00. Shares in Makalot Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1477) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.94% or 12.50 to 170.00.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.12% or 0.08 to $66.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $76.47 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 2.60 to trade at $1234.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.09% to 30.927, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2239.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 95.75.
