Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Hotels, Transport and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Chaintech Technology Corp (TW:2425) added 10.00% or 2.85 points to end at 31.35 and Shunsin Technology Holdings Ltd (TW:6451) was up 9.98% or 6.40 points to 70.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yu Foong International Corp (TW:1438), which fell 9.83% or 0.770 points to trade at 7.060 at the close. Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470) declined 5.85% or 1.15 points to end at 18.50 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) was down 5.59% or 2.05 points to 34.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 667 to 166 and 67 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.55% or 0.80 to $52.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.51% or 0.91 to hit $61.31 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1220.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 30.892, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2248.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.255.
